2Africa - The Longest Submarine Cable
2Africa is the longest fibre optic cable in the world measuring over 50,000km in total. Verisub have played a key role in the successful completion of each milestone.
Verisub’s involvement in the 2Africa project started in 2019 with the marine cable route surveys which continued into 2022. We provided project support and consultancy services involving desk study review, monitoring and supporting offshore operations. Verisub provided all offshore Purchaser representatives for the geophysical and geotechnical surveys. Involving over 5 vessels working simultaneously across the whole system, surveying deep water, shallow water, and near shore, we provided 100% at all times even during the challenging global pandemic where entry was extremely restricted in all countries.
In 2022 the project moved into the installation phase. Verisub was contracted to provide technical project support with dedicated marine controllers overseeing all installation operations throughout the project. Verisub provided all marine Purchasers’ Representatives to oversee the various aspects of the installation including, cable loading and transfers, mainlay operations, direct and separate shore end operations and subsequent post lay inspection and burial.

Thetis Inter-Island Cable System
Thetis is a 660km submarine fibre optic cable system linking 9 Greek islands with 17 landing points.
Verisub was contracted to supply Purchaser representatives during the geophysical and geotechnical survey campaign to provide in-field route engineering services to design the most secure cable system in this complex seabed region.
After design and manufacture of the cable, Verisub was contracted to supply all marine Purchaser representation during the mainlay operations and post lay and inspection burial phase of the project.
Saudi Vision Cable System
The Saudi Vision Cable, inspired by the Saudi 2030 Vision, is an 1160km fibre optic cable linking 4 regions in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aqaba.
Verisub was contracted to provide consultancy services throughout the cable route engineering phase of the project, to review the feasibilty desk study, advise on the route engineering of the cable as well as review all reports and deliverables from the geophysical and geotechnical surveys.
Verisub supplied marine Purchaser representatives for the survey and installation phases of the project.
